Yesterday Sensei Mick Dewey 8th dan Shotokan of England Karate Union took the first of three classes here in Gibraltar. It is a regular feature and not only helps maintain our important links with the Shotokan of England Karate Union (SEKU) it also gives me a chance to train with my Sensei and continue my own journey that I began with SEKU in 1991 about a month after I first arrived in Portsmouth from Scotland.
Training was as always excellent and though GibShot is low on numbers at the moment we make up for it in enthusiasm. Some more so than others particularly Norman Benn who regularly comes for business and always brings his gi. Sensei Dewey took usthrough some basics kicking and punching elements leading into attack and defend/counter excerises. Finally taking us in elements of kata “Hangetsu” before our well earned rest and lunch at the Curry Sushi restaurant in Irish Town.

Finally Sensei presented me with my certificate after passing my Yondan examination in the UK on the 8th September.
